Brown-Rains big-hole

Mon. 9/29:
Footing drain:
15- 10' sticks of 4" perf pipe.
11- 4" 90's
1- 4" tee
6- 4" to 2" tees
ABS glue
Silt sleeve/filter fabric
1 yard (1" minimum) drain rock
Still need full box of  3/8" X 4" redheads for forms.
Based on standard configuration below:

Fri. 9/26:
Need a box of 3/8" X 4" redheads to complete the forms.

We have been keeping an eye on this wet spot in the middle of the rear concrete wall and it isn't drying up or going away.

WED. 9/24:
THE BROWN/RAINS BIG HOLE
IS NOW OFFICIALLY EMPTY.
Need more 6mil plastic & 8 sandbags for site protection. Need more 3" grip rite screws. Gutters have been reconfigured & are complete.

Thurs. 9/11:
Need 5 lbs. 3" screws.

At lunch the male client came out and began to complain about the project taking too long until he had worked himself up into a pretty full blown tantrum. He was really pissed off that we were just doing bucket brigades on the dirt for the last 4 months. they want to see bodies down there and dirt coming out. He keeps repeating his holiday plans for out of town family visiting are going to be ruined by our inability to deliver in time.

Both clients have explained an unreasonable hatred of gutter systems. ("We just hate them-they're just ugly. Can't you just take them down?") I had to have a long talk with them about the necessity of shedding water away from the structure in order to keep moisture from getting into the new basement & window well. Told them the old gutter system may have been sufficient when there was nothing under the house, but now that there is a living space down there we need to get as much water away from the house in a Seattle rainy season as possible. I said "Seattle houses NEED gutters. Hate gutters? You better move to the desert." They finally grasped the situation, and signed off on downspout locations for the gutter reconfiguration. They asked if we could paint them in such a way that could camouflage them against the body of the house so they're not as obvious.

It should be stated that there was nothing wrong with the gutter installation job.

We're going to have to butcher one side of the addition gutters to fab the other side.

We have started grading ramp trying to get an angle of approach for the conveyor.
Remaining material after siding completion.

Wed. 9/10:
Need 3" screws.

Friday 9/5:
Need 20 pcs hardiplank, 2- 5/4"X 6" , 5- 5/4"X4" sticks of whitewood trim.
Standing down on Mondays until 10/31 per our conversation.

Thursday 9/4:

Need as heavy a load of siding as possible now that we are moving on to the gable ends. Need 2 5/4"X6" & 2 1"X4" white trim. 2 measely tubes of quad please. We are ready to relocate the gate- a gate lag bolt will be sent back with Michael when he makes his delivery today so that you can come up with a fastening solution for the gate hardware that you like. Simple 2" lag bolts will work for the latch that I attaches to the house. *A change order has been requested that I use S mortar to give a plaster european style skim coat over all the window sills.

Fri. 8/29:
Need 4 rigid/foil backed insulation panels, siding, case of quad, 1 1/4" siding or roofing nails (both guns are on board the van), 2 abrasive jig saw blades, 2  7 1/4" circ saw framing blades.

Thurs. 8/28:
Eric will be picking up the remaining ridge cap, a tube of wet patch and a bag of touch up sand this morning. Roof can be invoiced after lunch today. We are moving to corner trim, window and door wraps after lunch.

Wed. August 27th:
Ordered Eric to start his day picking up the final supplies needed to kill the roof. Expect a call for a fax order with a signature this morning. Focusing on roof completion as all the traffic up there is beginning to damage the product significantly. We need to get the hell off that roof. We have 30 days before October rolls the perma-rain on top of this, so let's get it buttoned up and painted and move inside.

Tuesday 8/12:
Need 2 cans low expanding foam. Need remaining rigid foam panels and more fast grab adhesive. Need 4 3"X 3/8" and 2 5"X 3/8" readhead bolts w/ washers & nuts to relocate iron gate. Need 4 bundles of starter, 9 rolls of foofing felt, 6 squares of presidential comp, 100 pcs step flashing, 10 pcs of drip edge, 2 quart tubes of Henry's roofing sealer/adhesive or wet patch, 2 cans of black spray paint and one 8" vent jack/cap for the range hood vent.

Strongly suggest that 2 men hand shovel & bucket fill out of basement for 2 hours every day while waiting for material delivery. Using this method over 3 or 4 weeks could eliminate the need for excavation equipment rental later.

Friday:
For Monday: Need 2 cans low expanding foam. Need remaining rigid foam panels and more fast grab adhesive.

Thursday:
Furring complete.

Wednesday:
Need 25 more readheads. Furring is done an hour after we get them. Need insulation panels or wall sheeting for Thursday. Need two quart tubes of fast grab adhesive to hold panels in place if insulating.

Monday:
Dumpster is full. Need furring strips, more wall fasteners & one more masonry bit.

Friday:
I will have the dumpster full & level by noon today. Ready for the roof crew. Furring for siding is underway.

Thursday:
Cooked drill bits trying to apply furring strips. Think the process will work, but we will have to graduate up to sds plus bits of the same size to pick up some speed. Want to see how far we can get with two. Only two strips were able to be applied before the bits gave up. Late start today, having a problem and going in to urgent care in lake stevens on my way in this morning. Darryl can work on filling the dumpster until I arrive on site.

Wednesday:
Today we are replacing the rear gutter, beginning to fill up the dirt dumpster, and should begin to apply furring to the cinder block if we get some drill bits.

Friday:
West gable end demo- west side sheeted. Used up all fascia on front- need fascia for gables and back. Need 4   1/4" concrete bits for siding furring strips.

Thursday:
Need some big fat L-flashing for both sides of the original center pop-up sides to go under our new fascia. After yesterday's averted disaster, I will not open up the gable ends to any extent until I get sheeting to cover what I open immediately. I would like to have enough sheeting to be able to attack the gable ends and get the fascia the hell done so that we can be ready for a roof crew by Saturday.

Fascia baseline:
Issues: High window at front pop out crowds fascia line. 12/12 return to original house fascia line does not match up. Nonsensical gutter arrangement. What are we doing to the gable ends?

Need a bunch (6) of impact it's the order to pull apart forms this morning. We broke 4 impact bits yesterday and are down to one. Hours updated last night.

Monday:
Checked about the new drain set up with the client- was told that there is a foul smell but otherwise the drain appears to be operating correctly. Form will be ready to pour by 2 p.m.

Out of screws again. Need 5 pounds of 3 inch grip-rite screws, 15 studs and whatever dimensional lumber Derek calls out to extend the form up 2 grade by 10:30 a.m. Today.

Friday:
Okay. Mike, when we ask for screws, we pretty much need a 5 lb. box of 3" Grip Rites. Big ass form = ungodly amount of screws. We need 5 lbs. ASAP. Top of full 8ft. form lands beneath grade.
Continuing existing cage up to 8 feet, and building full single pour form per new orders from Derek.

Wednesday:

Calling for the pour on Thursday afternoon.
Need 46 more tiebacks.
Need a wedge pack for the tiebacks. (For a total of 84 tiebacks= 168 wedges)

Need two of the cheap, thin metal grinder blades.

Need a 50 ct. of 3/8" X 5" redheads.

Tuesday:

Need 16 2X4s with the balance of our form material. Had client run a cycle through the washer, no indication of water in the ABS or the cast iron existing pipes. Water pooled into the basement about an hour later.

Monday:
Only partial pour completed for footing. Need 10  #4 rebar at 20 feet -22 #5 rebar at 10 feet and the balance of our concrete bag order. Sean and Daryl are digging down to the cast iron pipe termination.

Friday 5/30/14:
Need GRIP RITE 3" screws- screws delivered were duo-tong, not phillips head. Need more marking paint. Sean & Daryl are digging under the rear dryer vent until noon- Red & Lynn are completing preliminary forms & rebar for concrete pour. Cast iron pipe exiting rear wall has been located. Having the boys clean up the garden bed- and then sending them over to the Choi job.

Thursday 5/29/14:
Need marking paint.
Lynn, Dakota doing damage cleanup in the ditch- Sean & Daryl digging sideways under rear slab to seatch for waste line.

Wednesday 5/28/14:
Cave in @ entry door. Shored up temp supports @ front facade.

Tuesday:
Ramp fill barrier blew out right after Derek left the site- caved in to our hole. We dug out, replaced and repaired barrier. Need OSB sheets to shore up excavation walls & 2X8s for pad form.

Monday 5/26/14:
Thank you for the correct impact bits.
We will be digging and cussing today. That is all.

Friday 5/23/14:
Need another box of 3" grip rite screws and four impact driver bits. Dumpster is full and ready to switch out. Excavation will probably continue through Tuesday morning, with form building beginning on Tuesday afternoon.

Thursday:
FYI: Need the 10 bags of concrete and 1 bag of s-mortar by 10 a.m. at the latest to be able to get the vibrator back in time to the rental place.

Wednesday:
Drain inserts are difficult to retrofit. Got one completed but need some baling wire (or something like it) to secure the pipes vertically to the cage. Need 2 90 degree joints to finish. Confirming that we are ready for the pour tomorrow afternoon over at Brown/Rains.

Tuesday:
No additional supplies needed prior to pour. Calling for inspection on Wed. morning & pour Wed. afternoon.

Monday:
Need 5 more sticks of #5 rebar. Path has been dug with the dingo to clear for concrete pour. Lynn has what appears to be a reliable new rig. Dumpster is ready to be switched out.

Friday:
Dingo arrived at lunchtime.  Excavated the balance of the day. Dumpster full and ready for haul off Friday afternoon.
Need 5 more sticks of #5 rebar Monday morning. Pic of Saturday's excavation will be uploaded later this morning.

Thursday:

Note to Derek- meeting your deadline is important to me- but I can't build forms & cages fast with no materials. We like to kick ass over here in the big hole- please help us make that happen.

Today's list:
3/4" sds plus or sds max masonry bit
3 12' 2X4s
12 2X4 studs
4 2X6 studs
16 #5 5/8" blue coded rebar @ 10 feet
marking paint
6 sheets 3/4" OSB
big box of Grip Rite 3" screws (no bulk screws please)
4 #2 impact gun phillips bits.
full box of 3/8" X 5" redheads w/ washers.

Wednesday:
Notes to Michael: The epoxy nozzles are less than 6 bucks at Dunn- However, Dunn informed me (after I wrote the check and was already in the yard after being told they were out of 10' #5) that they only stock 20 foot long #5 rebar and never stock 10 foot sticks. Apparently they will cut their 20s down to 10s if you ask, but I would check the front desk to be sure.

Today's list:
3/4" sds plus or sds max masonry bit
3 12' 2X4s
12 2X4 studs
12 #5 5/8" blue coded rebar @ 10 feet
marking paint {because I'm a inveterate underground graffiti artist}
4 sheets 3/4" OSB
big box of Grip Rite 3" screws (no bulk screws please)
4 #2 impact gun phillips bits.
full box of 3/8" X 5" redheads w/ washers

Tuesday:
Yeah, well... more digging, 'cause that's just how we roll in the Big Hole.
Fifth cage is complete. The vertical and both horizontal cages are directly doweled into footings two & three.

Thursday:
Out of room for dirt downstairs. Could use a dingo out here in the morning to haul as much of it up stairs as possible. Threw my garbage in the dumpster, but there's a ton of concrete in there as well. We will not be able to fill this higher than the concrete line for haul off.

Please bring in a 1-9/16" demo spike (SDS Max) for Lynn's roto-demo machine to break up the larger chunks of concrete we can't break with the tools we have. It will be up high on the tool wall above the rotohammers in the tool crib at Home Depot.

Friday:

Thursday:
Passed inspection- braced uprights on forms, ran into a stream of water and some big rocks in the fourth excavation. Fourth form completion Friday morning.
Repeatedly lost power today- first time that's happened. Bathroom circuit apparently.
FYI- having problems with Dunn's bulk screws stripping & snapping. Had no problems with the boxed "Grip Rite's" and it's costing us some time and a lot of throw away screws. Both guys, 3 impact guns and kept changing to new bits to be sure it wasn't just us. We will make due
with what we have, but would prefer Grip Rite's for better work speed on the next order when we run out.

Wednesday:
forms completed and ready for inspection. Need 6 2X4s, 6 yellow tip #4 rebar, 6 blue tip #5 rebar & a couple of pounds of 3 inch screws.

Tuesday:
Forms will be ready for inspection by 12 noon tomorrow. We just started the last two days bailing an awful lot of water- taking away from production time. Need 4 more sticks of the yellow half inch rebar. Dumpster is still full, but without a dingo, probably not a big deal.

Monday:

Friday:

Form will be drilled for rebar extensions and red headed to existing stem wall Monday morning. Need more sand bags, wood chips & 20 X 100 6 mil plastic. it looks like the image below in a cardboard box- not a plastic bag. Do not bring out anything else but what I just requested or don't bother. We need to do some heavy duty site mediation here, and the thin hefty bag material is not going to cut it.

Thursday:

Monday:
$30.35 in gas. 1 5gal & 1 3gal.
Concrete lump was apparently a plug used to route a U shaped electrical conduit through. Son of a bitch fought us all the way. Ready for rebar & forms.

Friday:
shoveling and digging by hand all day yesterday until 1 p.m. today when the Home Depot Tech completed his repairs. Got as far as the pictures below illustrate.

Thursday:
Home Depot tech support won't show up until Friday mid morning. Dumpster is full and ready to be called off. Need 5 gallons of gas by noon.

Tuesday:
Threw a track off for the second time at 3 p.m. - reported in to Derek, and was instructed to leave it that way in the basement undercover. Temp post replaced with permanent post with seat hardware. Dumpster is full and ready to switch out.

Monday:
Threw a track off of the dingo on the first bucket out of the hole. Did not happen again after we fixed it. Canopy is up and secured from blowing away. Dumpster is full and ready to call off. Need more gas again. The Boxer 320 gets really crappy mileage.

Wednesday:

Tuesday:

Monday:

Monday:

Thursday:
Remaining temporary support beams installed, existing center posts have begun to be dug out, Had to send James home at 2 p.m. due to inability to continue work pace.  Dumpster full and ready to haul off. Temporary support beams are improvised due to Home Depot lack of larger stock at its North Seattle location.

Wednesday:

Friday:
There is no more room for any dirt to come out of the hole. We need dirt hauled off.

Let's assume that we can't get the dirt out of there Saturday to make room for more dirt- it's going to be useless to put anybody out there without a jackhammer with a spade bit. We're just bouncing off that hard sand-pack stuff with hand tools. If you guys can arrange a jackhammer rental I can loosen up everything and leave it in place underneath until it can be dingoed out when we have some place to put the dirt.

Thursday

Dingo failure to deal with the grade excavated:

Wheelbarrow is pretty much toast at this point. Getting another out here would be helpful. Call before bringing out the Dingo, as it takes quite a while to clean off the Kubota after mud-bogging in the hole and we want Michael to be able to switch the units out quickly and not need to wait around for us to clean the Kubota.

Kubota is clean. If we use it again in the morning, it will take 45 minutes minimum to clean again based on our experience on Monday.

Kubota key is hidden in the eave of the roof next to the honeybucket.
